War on the Shore is an annual wrestling tournament hosted by the Stephen Decatur High School wrestling team. Each year, teams travel to compete here in Ocean City. This website should have all the resources you need, but feel free to contact Todd Martinek if you have any questions.
For Coaches and Spectators
Spectator information – Please share with fellow team parents and fans.
- The OC Convention Center is owned by the Maryland Stadium Authority. Therefore, no food or drinks, other than a water bottle will be allowed into the facility. A full food and drink concession area will be open at all times during the tournament. Please adhere to this policy.
- Absolutely no fans will be able to enter the arena until after the varsity weigh-ins are completed. This will be between 2-3 pm. All paying spectators will have plenty of time to pay and be seated before wrestling begins. We will not start wrestling if there is a line at the ticket booth.

- Due to the cost of the tournament. Teams will receive 3 coaches and 1 managers pass for a varsity only team. Teams will receive 4 coaches and 2 managers pass for a jv and varsity team.
- Only those coaches with passes will be admitted to the event or into the coaches room. No exceptions.
- Arrive on time. Varsity weigh-ins start at 1pm and can be done by team. Teams can check-in at the box office in the lobby starting at 12 (noon). Teams arriving earliest will be weighed in the order they check in. Teams must have all wrestlers to check in.
- Make your hotel reservations by November 9th to guarantee the secured rates. Make your reservation early and you can cancel with 3 days notice.
- JV wrestler’s names need to be sent via e-mail by November 27th. Payment will only be taken at the box office when your team is admitted. i.e. If you have a check or cash for 10 jv entrants ONLY 10 jv entrants will be allowed in to weigh-ins. The JV invoice has been added to the website – Just print it out – fill it in and e-mail names by 11/27. Again – ALL payment due when you check in.
- There should be plenty of parking – no issues. Busses should park at the end of the parking lot closest to Coastal Highway.
- We will have a full time trainer, but be sure to bring tape, pre-wrap, etc.
- Send in your seeding sheet on time – Tuesday – December 1st or your wrestlers names will be left off of the t-shirts and tournament preview.
- Seeding is done Thursday night at the Convention center at 7pm. All coaches are welcome to attend.
